Concurrent Session Speakers

Paula Burnam is Director of Apprenticeship and Job Training at the Arizona Department of Commerce.  Prior to joining the Department, she managed various federal grants at the Governor’s office and spent seventeen years at the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.

Vincent Deberry, University of Oklahoma, Outreach, Center for Public Management. Deberry provides consulting to customers and potential customers on a wide spectrum of projects and programs.  He manages the E-Business unit responsible for development of the learning management systems and all web-based solutions.

Janetta DeOnna is Project Director for the Office of Economic and Workforce Development,
The Penn State University.

Wendy Evers is Senior Director of New Program Development for San Diego State University, College of Extended Studies. She creates new industry programs for careers based on business and workforce needs. She earned a B.S. degree from Chapman University, a Professional Certificate in HR Management from Chapman University and an MBA from UCSD.

Kimberly Faust is Program Manager for Maricopa County Human Services Workforce Development where she oversees the contract, quality assurance and the business services units.  She has a Master’s in Public Administration.

Annie Haines is Area Representative for Continuing Education, Penn State York.

Ty Handy is President of Vermont Technical College.  He was Chancellor of Ivy Tech State College – Southern Indiana prior to coming to Vermont.  He holds a bachelor’s in Finance from Western Kentucky University, the Master of Business Administration from Drexel University, and the doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Memphis.

William Higgins is Apprenticeship Coordinator for the Phoenix Bricklaying and Tilesetting Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee. 

Anne Hoel is an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Dr. Hoel is the UW-Stout Academic Director for the Sustainable Management degree completion program. She earned her B.S. degree in Sociology from St. Cloud State University, her M.S. in Business Management from Cardinal Stritch University, and Doctorate in Educational Policy Administration from the University of Minnesota.

Linda S. Lange is Assistant Professor of Finance in the School of Management, College for Professional Studies at Regis University. She also owns Entrepreneur Support Systems, Inc, serving small business clients’ accounting and information system needs.

Anna Lopez is Apprenticeship Coordinator at GateWay Community College, managing thirteen registered apprenticeship programs.  She received her BA and MA degrees from Arizona State University.

Anne Mahoney is the HES Outreach Coordinator at Oklahoma State University.  She has her B.S. in Business Administration and her M.S. in Health Care Administration.

Barry Martin is Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, College for Professional Studies at Regis University.

Mark Minter is the Executive Director of the Arizona Builders’ Alliance, a trade association of commercial and industrial builders including general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and service companies.  Mark is a graduate of Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. 

Jay Paterson is Director of the Technology Extension Division at Vermont Technical College.  He has a B.A. from the University of Vermont and an M.S. in Adult Education and Human Resources Development from the University of Southern Maine.

Cheryl A. Rider de Martinez is the Business Coordinator for the City of Phoenix Economic Department, Workforce Division as well as the Assistant One-Stop Coordinator for the Phoenix Workforce Connection (PWC).  She has a Masters of Organization Development from Ottawa University and is a graduate of the Certified Public Manager Program, Arizona State University.

Jeffrey Rosen is Dean of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) at Loyola University Chicago. He received his Ph.D. in art history from Northwestern University, an M.S.Ed. in adult education from Southern Connecticut State University and a B.A. in sociology and fine arts from New York University.

Theresa Shank is Director of Continuing Education, Penn State Mont Alto.

Nancy Sherman is Marketing and Client Services Manager for distance learning and travel courses, Arts & Sciences Outreach, Oklahoma State University. She has a B.S. in Education and an M.S. in Adult Education.

John Skalbeck is an Associate Professor of Geosciences and Interim Director of the Center for Community Partnerships at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.  Dr. Skalbeck is the UW-Parkside Academic Director for the Sustainable Management degree completion program.  He earned his B.A. in geology from Gustavus Adolphus College, M.S. in geology/geophysics from Western Washington University, and Ph.D. in hydrogeology from University of Nevada-Reno.

Juna Stovall, University of Oklahoma, Outreach, Center for Public Management.  Stovall is responsible for new program development and manages several training and outreach programs. Stovall holds a Certificate in Training and Development from the University of Oklahoma and is Six Sigma Green Belt certified. 

Greg Trudeau is the Chair of the Department of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. He is also the UW-Superior Academic Director for the Sustainable Management degree completion program.  He earned his B.A. in Business Administration, Accounting from the University of St. Thomas, M.B.A. in Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas, and Doctorate in Educational Policy Administration from the University of Minnesota.

Tim C. Valencia works for the Community and Economic Development Department where he manages the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Program. He also oversees the Phoenix YouthBuild Program that incorporates strategies that introduced youth to Sustainable “Green” Energy careers and post-secondary education opportunities. He earned a BA in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and completed a Master's Degree in Community Counseling from the University of Phoenix.

Jeff Warner is Director of Continuing Education, Penn State York.

Kristi Wheeler is Program Coordinator in Engineering Distance Education at Oklahoma State University.  While working, she is earning her degree in Psychology.
