Continuing Education Reviews: Principles, Practices and Strategies
By Joe F. Donaldson
The author surveyed UCEA member institutions for this study which
discusses how a college or university continuing education unit
can prepare for a successful review. Of late, higher education institutions
have tended to rely heavily on program reviews to help them address
increased demands for accountability and effective use of scarce
resources. It suggests some guidelines which continuing education
units might follow when faced with the prospect of a review. The
author identifies various types of reviews and explores the conditions
and motivations that give rise to reviews. He also discusses alternative
evaluation methods and criteria for selecting reviewers.
