Enrollments at U.S. Colleges and Universities, 2002-2006

Online education is an increasingly convenient and popular way of obtaining a college education, particularly for students with families to support. Nearly 85 percent of U.S. colleges and universities with online courses expect their online enrollments to increase over the coming year.

The Sloan Survey found that more than two-thirds of all U.S. colleges and universities offer online courses; 35 percent of schools offer programs that are completely online.

Some 20 percent of the 17 million college students in the United States say they have taken at least one online course.
